If you happen to be visiting the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford after March 1st then have a look along the Link Gallery where wonderful images taken by Mike English of my boats will be exhibited. The exhibition runs for 3 months.
In our modern world the relevance of using wood to build boats has never been stronger. We live in a technologically fast society where mass production and marketing has given conformity and obsolescence to many of the things we buy. As an antithesis to this consumerism a wooden boat stands for an individual choice that has passed from tree to sea through the hands of a craftsman.
I hope this exhibition enlightens anyone with a yearning for the hand made, for something beyond the conventional and predictable, and they leave inspired to learn more.
